Maria Chatzimourati was born in Thessaloniki. She has studied interior design and decoration. She graduated (cum laude) from the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), and she was awarded a scholarship for postgraduate studies abroad.

Since 2008 she has been an arts teacher in public education.

She has taken part in several important exhibitions including:

2003 “ART ACTION FIELD KODRA 03”

2004 3rd Biennale of students of the department of Visual and Applied Arts at UATh.

2006 Belle Art Lamia ’06 (Commendation)

2006 “Synergy’, Centre for Modern Art of Thessaloniki, (1st Prize)

2006 “Go-existence”, Zina Athanasiadou’s Gallery

2006 Graduate Exhibition, Museum of Modern Arts of Thessaloniki

2006 4th Biennale of the Schools of Fine Arts of Greece (Commendation)

2007 1st solo exhibition titled “Basements”, Papatzikou Gallery

2015 Solo exhibition at the public gallery of Mytilene

2008 With the financial support of the Hellenic Ministry for the Environment,

Physical Planning and Public Works, the Biennale of the Schools of Fine Arts of Greece was moved to the Athens metro for an exhibition.

The exhibition was later moved to Canada under the auspices of the Anglican Church.
