AGGELOS ANTONOPOYLOS
He was born in Tropaia, Arcadia in 1957. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts with D. Mytaras, D. Kokkinidis, V. Dimitreas and stage design with V. Vassiliadis. He presented his first solo exhibition of paintings in Athens (1986, gallery F) and in 1990 he created a large painting decoration for the Athenian cinema Ideal, while later he decorated the Sineak cinema in Piraeus in a similar way. His sculptures, small or large, are usually made of metal mesh and plaster gauze. At the same time, however, it uses various technical and expressive means (painting, photography, objects, etc.) in wall or three-dimensional compositions, with emphasis on their relationship with space. The artistic elaboration of his works highlights the perfection of the forms, without emphasizing their staticity. He taught painting at the Art Workshop of Chalkida (1987-1998) and since 1989 he has been teaching at the First Painting Workshop of ASKT (associate professor since 2009). His solo exhibitions have been presented in Greece and Cyprus. He has taken part in group exhibitions in Greece and abroad (Italy, Spain, Croatia, Germany, United Arab Emirates).
