… when the gulianos met the sousourada !!!

GIORGIS MELIKIS

Exhibition duration: 19 Apr. – 15 May. 2013

“With so much fuss and bullying, we lost communism and democracy.” Giorgis Melikis gives with a verse the stigma of the painting exhibition presented at the PAPATZIKOU gallery.
His report “When the gulianos met the sousourada!” carries symbolic elements. The journalist and painter himself explains that “from the creation to the creation of the world, there has always been and will continue to be a gull, leader, paralyzed, political, crowned, state or private agent, priest, etc., and a sousourada, gomenitsa willing and ready always for everything, with … goal and … vision! But what happens in this indefinite time, when a flirtatious gulian gives in to the methodical shakes of a sousouraditsa? ” the painter wonders.
To be precise, Melikis raises “a political question to adults and an artistic invention to children”, as he says. “The gullibleness and national gallantry of the gullian through his position, post, management and power towards the almost always immigrant sousourada are the aspects that are presented in this exhibition”.
