΄΄PAPATZIKOU ΄΄ gallery Founded by Vicky Papatzikou in 2006 in Veria and housed on a privately owned ground floor at 26 Ag. Antoniou Street. for the most part it was unsuspecting, we bypassed obstacles and avoided easy practices. We showed consistency and extroversion. It is self-evident for us that systematic research and conscientious effort must precede, for the good of art.
- The first exhibition that we organized and held in December 2006 with participating artists: Manoli Giannadaki, George Katsangelos, Velizar Kristic, Kostis Triantafyllou, George Tsakiri, is a historic exhibition for our space. It was the starting point of important collaborations in the long run and marked the beginning of a continuous and fruitful presentation of works of art in the city of Veria and beyond.
- An institution for our space was the exhibition “SMALL FORM” 2006-1016 that we organized for 10 years continuously, in the month of December with the participation of a large number of artists. We created the possibility in an open festive exhibition to coexist without dividing lines in the same space works of renowned artists and younger, as well as people of art of the city.
- In April 2010 we hosted at the gallery part of the 2nd photo-Biennale, “META-THESIS III”
- In August 2010 we organized the “1st Meeting of Contemporary Art” at 1450m. altitude and specifically in Seli-Vermio
- Of particular value for us is our participation in ART-ATHINA from 2013/2014/2015/2016/2017/2019 but also in ART-ATHINA VIRTUAL 2020/2021 and ART-ATHINA POP UP
- In 2017 the multi-space “PAPATZIKOY / ektos xarti” comes to be added to the dynamics of the gallery. A new privately owned space, of industrial design, on El. Venizelou 43, is transformed by the family into a place of multiple cultural events. There, on the mezzanine floor, the small cafe-bar “ektos xarti” is created by Antonis Papatzikos who is in charge of the space. The new space hosts alternative events, art and speech groups, musical events, small theatrical performances, book presentations, artist presentations, mini conferences, happenings etc. In the hidden courtyard of the cafe “ektos xarti” unexpected meetings and interesting discussions beautify our days and nights.
- In 2020, due to conditions, the gallery on Ag. Antoniou. Last event, the solo exhibition of Manolis Giannadakis.
- From 2006 until 2020 in the area on Ag. Antoniou 26, we have presented a significant number of renowned and younger artists (George Milios, Vangelis Dimitreas, Giannis Valavanidis, Kyriakos Katsourakis, Angelos Antonopoulos, Giannis Ziogas, Opy Zouni, Chronis Botsoglou, Haris Yanthis, Haris Kontos) , George Skylogiannis, Stavros Panagiotakis, Kyriakos Mortarakos, Manolis Giannadakis, George Katsangelos, Velizar Kristic, George Tsakiris, Nikolas Bliatkas, Elli Chrysidou, etc.), in individual and group exhibitions.
- January 1, 2021 we turn the corridors and stairs of our house into a gallery, at the same address El. Venizelou 43, where we organize an exhibition entitled “ART at the Staircase” as a result of the new conditions. To our great surprise, the staircase is registered as a permanent exhibition space in the consciousness of the art-loving public and remains open to the public 24 hours a day.
- In 2021, we transfer the activities of the PAPATZIKOU gallery to the ground floor of the space on El. Venizelou 43, where we are housed today in an ideally designed space according to our needs. The gallery’s art-shop operates in the same space. Note: We printed more than 100 invitations for corresponding events that took place either inside the gallery or outside it, and 42 catalogs-publications on the occasion of individual and group exhibitions, illustrated texts by art theorists: Manolis Mavromatis, Giannis Kolokotronidis, Mar , Giannis Bolis et al.
- Utilizing the right granted to us by art, and with an increasing willingness to offer, we held charitable exhibitions inside and outside the gallery, contributing through art to the relief of vulnerable groups.
- It would be our omission not to mention our cooperation with the Public Central Library of Veria in an effort of mutual support of events, communication and exchange of ideas.
- The gallery is also open to proposals and collaborations with other art venues inside and outside the city, as well as with independent art groups. From the beginning until today, our commitment to the goals we set remains at the same level. Our method, perseverance and honest attitude towards the public paid off. From 2006 when the gallery started operating until today we have traveled a long time in a relatively short time. We hope, and hope, that time will justify our choices. Our project then is our current reality΄-
