Kyriakos Mortarakos

Kyriakos Mortarakos (Athens, 1948) studied painting, fresco and scenography at ASKT with I. Moralis, V. Vassiliadis and K. Xinopoulos. He has presented twenty solo exhibitions in historical art sites in Greece and abroad such as the Libra Gallery, in Washington D.C. and the Nees Morfes gallery in Athens. In addition, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions in private and public art centers worldwide such as the Benaki Museum, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki, the National Gallery of Athens, the Municipal Gallery in Pioga. Istanbul, at the Artist Guild Center for Creative Arts in Shanghai, at the Arad Biennial in Romania, and the Kunstverein Kunsthalle in Berlin. His works are part of the collections of public institutions and museums such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST), Greece, but also of large private collections such as the Central European Bank in Germany. From 2005 to 2015 he was a full professor at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and from 2015 he is an emeritus professor.
